Dear July,

You are new, though you’ve come 1,000 times before.

You are familiar - patriotic, relaxing, spontaneous, and hot, quite hot.

You bring freedom to travel, to sleep til 3, to dance til dawn.

You bring a fresh start, as all months do when they roll in.

“July 1, I’ll be doing this differently.”

“July first, this will change.”

“New month, new me.”

You remind us all that the blissful escape called summer is close to its end.

But thankfully, you are not the end.

You remind us all to seize the day, carpe diem, take charge of the moment while the moment is alive.

July, you are the moment. You are alive.
